Apparently keeping a journal is supposed to be good for you and help clear your mind, at least that's what I've heard, anyway. I would personally prefer to use a pensive, but of course I don't have one of those. So I'll use this old beat-up notebook instead.
Let's see, where to begin... well, today the Ministry informed me that dad's escaped from prison and is out to kill me (BIG surprise there...) and dad's letter definitely confirmed that. I decided to go tell the headmaster but as it turned out he was in on the whole thing and dad was hiding out pretending to be one of his pet snakes. To make matters worse both Draco Jr and Lucius were in the room as well, so I pretty much thought I was as good as dead. Luckily for me, a Gryffindor third year named Lily Potter (daughter of the famous Harry Potter) had been spying on the Malfoys and managed to distract the Malfoy boys, which gave me time to knock one of them out before Draco Sr stepped in and ordered us all out of the office.
At that point Lily and I came back to the common room and tried to figure out what to do next. Obviously we can't trust any of the adults (except Profs. Potter and Weasleys) and owl mail is being screened. She thought we might be able to get an owl to the Order from Hogsmeade without running the risk of it being intercepted, we'll discuss that more later.
That's enough for tonight... hopefully I'll be able to get some sleep.
